Founded over 130 years ago as a well drilling contractor, Layne is one of the largest, most experienced water service companies, serving hundreds of municipalities, industrial companies, agribusinesses, mining companies and the world. We supply well drilling and construction for dewatering wells, monitor well completions, environmental and geotechnical drilling, water well rehabilitation, pumping equipment sales and services, mineral exploration drilling, hydrologic investigations and water treatment technologies.

Account Manager-Sales Engineer
This position is responsible for promoting, developing and selling water resources services by establishing and maintaining effective relationships with potential customers.
Our business exists within a well-established territory, and our goal to sustain and grow our business, and continue our long history of providing effective groundwater solutions.
The successful candidate will gain the knowledge through hands on training in both practical and scientific principles related to water well drilling applications, well rehabilitation methods, pumping equipment selection and repairs, water filtration solutions. Our expectations are to identify and develop the candidate to be well prepared to take the next step: effectively generate leads, develop solutions and close deals.
The chosen candidate will gain practical experience working with our seasoned field personnel executing our work plans and solutions. This will be followed by significant amount of time shadowing and assisting our seasoned account manager(s) and project manager(s) in the promotion of our business-gathering and evaluating data, problem solving, innovating and exploring strategies with customers, preparing and delivering a solution.
Essential Job Accountabilities
1. Establish and maintain client relationship to facilitate sale of water resources services.
2. Develop and identify prospects from current clients, referrals, leads, and other sources to make sure goals are achieved.
3. Prepare and issue reports on prospect pipeline, current sales, forecasts, and market trends so that regional operations can effectively grow their businesses.
4. Plan and attend industry trade and convention shows to generate leads for future business.
5. Maintain contact with Project Managers and Operations personnel to ensure that the project is delivered as promised to the client.
6. Develop an approach to the project and tailor WRD products and services to meet customer needs in accordance with regional short term and long-term sales goals.
7. Prepare bid package and recommend margins to meet group strategic plan for financial performance.
8. Utilize CRM system for tracking and forecasting to ensure accurate tracking and forecasting of project goals.
9. Act as the principle contact for customers and work closely with field crews on providing our services to ensure projects are completed by project deadline and budget.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Geology or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.
• Public speaking and presentation skills a must.
