About Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Queens
Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Queens, a partnership of Bard College and the New York City Department of Education, invites applications for either a full- or part-time maternity leave replacement position in the Biology department. BHSEC, a national model in the field of public school reform, provides talented and highly motivated students the opportunity to move in four years from the ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning an associate of arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College as well as a high school diploma. The academic program emphasizes small class size and a commitment to teaching a diverse student body in a liberal arts environment. Qualifications
The biology program at BHSEC Queens cultivates in students a deep understanding of the foundational concepts in biology and the language to discuss those concepts. Experience teaching younger students and a commitment to scholarship and to teaching a diverse student body are desirable.
The Biology program at BHSEC Queens offers a wide array of courses. Our course catalog includes foundational courses for students who plan to major in science, engineering, and the health professions, as well as electives in neurobiology, ecology and cancer biology. The successful applicant(s) will teach two sections of high school Biology and/or one college section of Organismal Biology.

The compensation for teaching these classes is based on the NYC DOE salary scale for long-term substitutes. Application review will begin immediately and will proceed until the position is filled. We anticipate that the maternity leave could begin as early as January and will run till May.
