Black and Latinx Students

Welcome to the Community for Black and Latinx Students

Welcome to the Black and Latinx Students career community! When workers bring talent and experience that embodies a myriad of representation in employment places, it enriches that place and the world of work at-large across all industries. Black and Latinx workers have an excellent opportunity to be part of what develops that representation. They contribute to their life and professional experience to better present their services and products in ways that resonate with and mirror a broader array of clients or customers.

Perhaps you are looking to understand how your cultural identity and background adds value to various industries or places of employment or need to build skills in communicating what you can bring to the table. Maybe you want to learn more about employers who seek to hire you with all of what you can represent and contribute, or about how affinity groups in workplaces can be part of what advances your career. You will find opportunities to explore these topics and more through this career community.

We encourage you to read the diversity and inclusion statement on our Career Exploration and Success (CES) website at careers.rutgers.edu/dei to understand further the value we place on this vital topic. Additionally, we provide individual career advising and resources focused on career development, finding mentors, salary negotiation, and addressing Black/Latinx students’ unique career challenges. Many employers appreciate the unique insight that Black/Latinx students bring to their positions as interns and full-time employees. CES also assists students in communicating how their background is valuable to any organization.

Through this community, you will find industry resources, career advice, job/internship and networking opportunities, workshops, events, and advisors to help you strategize a plan to achieve your post-graduation goals.
